Your morning routine sets the tone for your day. If you wake up late, you might find yourself rushing all day or if you get up an hour early to work out, you’ll find yourself feeling more energetic during the day. A good morning routine can have a dramatic effect on your day and having a set ritual can help you start each day on the right foot.
However, picking a daily morning routine can be difficult. We’ve gathered the routines of some of the most successful tech leaders, so you can get some inspiration and start creating a routine that is right for you.
Tim Cook, CEO of Apple: Apple’s CEO Tim Cook starts his day at 4 AM, checking emails and getting some work done before he hits the gym at 5 AM. Then, he’ll head to the office around 8 AM, typically being the first one in the office and the last one to leave.
Jack Dorsey, Square CEO and Twitter Co-Founder: Jack’s daily routine starts at 5 AM with a cold shower, a 1-hour meditation, and a 5-mile walk to work. He also chooses to skip breakfast and only eats one meal a day during the workdays.
Melinda Gates, Founder of Gates Foundation: Melinda starts every morning with mediation, stretching, yoga, and some kind of spiritual reading. Then, after reading and meditating, she makes sure to spend some time outside and have a quick breakfast with her daughter before starting her day.
Padmasree Warrior, CTO of Motorola: Padmassree begins her day at 4:30 AM, where she spends an hour reading through emails and news before moving onto an hour of cardio or resistance training. Afterwards, she gets her son ready for school and gets to the office around 8 or 8:30 AM.
Richard Branson, Founder of Virgin: After waking up at 5 AM, Branson starts by exercising with a game of tennis, goes for a walk or run, or does some biking. Then, he will sit down for breakfast with his family and then begin his workday with email.
